Alex Chamberlain
Alex graduated in Medicine with Honours from Monash University in 1993. 
				He completed his residency at The Alfred Hospital. Prior to commencing dermatology 
				training he was Research Fellow at the Victorian Melanoma Service under Professor 
				John Kelly. His dermatology training was at the Royal Melbourne Hospital, Oxford 
				Radcliffe Hospitals (Churchill Hospital), Austin Repatriation Medical Centre and 
				The Alfred Hospital. He has an appointment as Adjunct Associate Professor at Monash 
				University.
Alex attained fellowship of the Australasian College of 
				Dermatologists (FACD) in 2004. Part of 2007 was spent in Oxford again for a 
				fellowship in multidisciplinary cancer care and dermoscopy (Florance Bequest). 
				He has worked as visiting specialist at the Royal Children's Hospital in the 
				paediatric dermatology clinic up until 2011, and continues at the Alfred as 
				consultant to the Victorian Melanoma Service - a multidisciplinary consultative 
				clinic set up to support patients with melanoma. Alex participates in rural outreach 
				clinics in Tasmania.
Alex's areas of expertise include 
				dermoscopy and the early detection of skin cancers including melanoma, along with 
				acne and disorders of hair and nails. He has published more than 50 papers in peer 
				reviewed journals and is a regular speaker at national meetings and educational workshops. 
				He has served as a committee member on the editorial board of the Australasian Journal of 
				Dermatology from 2005 until 2015. In 2016 Alex was a member of the working party to update 
				the Cancer Council Australia National Melanoma Guidelines.
				 
In 2022 A/Prof Chamberlain co-edited the 2nd edition of Diagnostic Dermoscopy: The Illustrated Guide (Wiley-Blackwell) along with Dr Jonathan Bowling (UK) and Prof John Paoli (Sweden).
